I became serious about photography late in my life when I was already married and well into my 30s. I owned my very first DSLR camera around 26 (or there about). It was my first camera that wasn’t my father’s or anyone else’s I had borrowed. It was a simple, entry level Nikon and a birthday gift from my parents. It wasn’t long before I realized I had a hidden passion. Prior to that moment, I’d only taken my camera out for travel or family time. Now it’s the one material thing I can’t leave the house without.

I’ve always loved the outdoors and that love transformed into a love of photographing the outdoors. Initially it was for myself and to document my adventures, but as my passion for photography grew, so did my need to improve my skill to capture the natural landscape. Whilst I do love the grand and vast scenes, I've fallen in love with finding more intimate, smaller scenes. Ones that are easily missed. I’ve learned that beautiful majestic light during a sunset or sunrise is not only visible in the sky but on the ground as well. It can be cast onto an intimate scene where the wonderful soft hues are caught on the subject giving the image a more compelling story.

When I’m not photographing nature, I still try to enjoy the outdoors with walks, hikes or camping…honestly, anything in the outdoors even playing golf. I am excited that my daughter is now getting to an age where I can include her in my time out, and hopefully I can show her how wonderful nature can be.
